This role offers the chance to join a small, supportive team within a dynamic and highly specialised follow-only syndicate in the Lloyd’s market. This role is ideal for a Claims Adjuster who has been out of the workplace to be able to restart their career, building on existing skills while contributing to intellectually stimulating work that makes a real impact.

A successful returner candidate, who has had a career break of 18 months or more will receive coaching support through the transition period from Career Returners.

Your career break may have been for childcare, eldercare, relocation or other reasons. You may have been working on a small-scale basis to fit around other commitments or not done any paid work for a number of years.

About the role

This role is to support the effective management of insurance claims for a follow-only Lloyd’s syndicate, with a particular focus on policy interpretation, coverage analysis, and wordings-driven issues. The role also includes a mentoring and capability-building element, supporting the development of a junior claims adjuster, helping to embed strong technical standards, governance, and market best practice from an early stage.

What they’re looking for

  • Proven experience as a Claims Adjuster/Handler in the Lloyd’s Market.
  • Strong familiarity with Lloyd’s claims systems, processes, and follow-only syndicate operations.
  • Skilled in policy wording interpretation and coverage analysis.
  • Capable of reviewing and constructively challenging lead syndicate positions.
  • Strong written communication, producing clear and concise technical summaries.
  • Excellent attention to detail, sound judgement, and commercial awareness.
  • Willing and able to train, mentor, and support junior talent.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to influence stakeholders.
  • Analytical thinker able to provide evidence‑based, practical solutions.
  • Collaborative, pragmatic, and comfortable working in a small specialist team; legal background desirable.

Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Claims Adjuster / Claims Handler within the Lloyd’s Market.
  • Familiarity with Lloyd’s claims systems and processes.
  • Strong understanding of follow-only syndicate operations and responsibilities.
  • Demonstrable experience in policy wordings interpretation and coverage analysis.
  • Willingness and capability to train, mentor, and support a junior claims adjuster early in their career.
  • Ability to review and challenge lead syndicate positions constructively.
  • Strong written skills with the ability to produce clear, concise technical summaries.
  • Excellent attention to detail and sound judgement.

Desirable:

  • Legal background (qualified solicitor, barrister, or legally trained claims professional).

Working arrangements

Part time: 3 days per week (total 21 hours per week, 0.6fte)

Hybrid: Monday and Tuesday in the office, either Wednesday or Thursday work from home.
