After the success of the first 2024 BT Career Restart Programme in partnership with Career Returners, the September 2024 intake is open for applications. If you’re an experienced professional who’s been out of the workforce for 18 months or more and have the right to work in the UK, BT would love to hear from you!

So how will the Restart programme work at BT?

BT is offering permanent roles in its Business division, with specialised support and coaching from Career Returners to help you to step back into work and the workplace.

You will have access to the training and learning opportunities available to all BT colleagues, plus a mentor and a buddy to support you over the course of the programme. The programme will provide you with a supported route back to a professional role, with a built-in transition period that sets you up for a successful re-entry to the workplace.

The types of skills BT is seeking and opportunities they offer, are in the following areas:

Sales – Small and Medium Business

The Small and Medium Business (SMB) teams support over a million small businesses (between 1-249 employees) across the UK – the lifeblood of the country’s economy.

This area is looking for skills relating to Account/Acquisition Management and Sales Specialists.

Sales – Corporate and Public Sector

The Corporate and Public Sector (CPS) teams sell to businesses with 250+ employees including major corporate business and multinationals, government, health and defence.

This area is looking for skills relating to Inside Sales and Contract Management.


The Service teams look after BT’s customers during the life of their contract, providing great service which helps retain customers and attract new ones to the business.

This team is seeking skills relating to Project Management, Data Engineering, Cyber Security, Solution/Network Design and Architecture, Design & Implementation.

If there is a potentially good fit with the Restart Programme, BT will invite you to an interview. The interviews will assess your fit with BT through a combination of strength-based interviewing techniques and competency/behavioural questions.

The closing date for applications is Monday 24 June, but please apply as soon as possible BT will be screening CVs as they come in. Interviews will take place between 24 June and 19 July. The programme will commence on Monday 23 September 2024.
