Career Returners Employer Event
What Works for Supporting Career Returners to Get Back to Work and Thrive
Join Career Returners and Rt Hon Chloe Smith, President of CIPD and former Secretary of State for both the labour market and technology, for an insightful session exploring practical strategies for unlocking the potential of economically inactive experienced professionals.
At this virtual event on 10 December, 12:00-13:00 (UK time), you will hear from:
- Julianne Miles MBE, Co-Founder of Career Returners and author of Return Journey, and Hazel Little, CEO of Career Returners, who have over a decade of experience, having supported 4,000 professionals back to work in partnership with over 200 employers and the UK government. They will share proven ways to adapt recruitment to be more returner-friendly and the wraparound support that sets returners up for success.
- Rt Hon Chloe Smith who will share insights on economic inactivity, one of the UK’s major, strategic challenges, and how helping returners back to work is an important part of a wider mission. Can AI act as a great equalizer for overlooked talent, matching people and jobs and support better than ever before? Chloe will report on her work with Career Returners and other pioneers to examine how AI innovation can help more people into the labour market, which has earned a 2025 Digital Leaders AI 100 award.
- Faye Kennedy, Director Talent Acquisition, Markel International. Faye will share her experience of bringing talented professionals back into Markel, highlighting how the business has benefitted, the critical importance of senior leadership buy-in and why returner hiring is embedded in Markel’s talent strategy.
Whether you’re an employer seeking to diversify your talent pipeline or a start-up innovating AI hiring tools, this is your opportunity to gain actionable insights on how to remove barriers, leverage untapped skills, and create inclusive pathways back to work.
This is a free-of-charge event for employers across all sectors. The event is not aimed at returners or coaches.
