We’re Hiring!

Would you like to join us in our mission of removing the Career Break Penalty and making career breaks a valued part of a lifetime career?

We are looking for an experienced Community Manager to join our fantastic team in this newly-created role. The opportunity is open to all candidates with relevant skills and experience. The role will be 30 hours a week (4 days equivalent), ideally over 5 days.

About the role

You’ll be helping us to tackle the challenges that come with re-entering the workforce after an extended career break for caring, health or other reasons. Our free-of-charge Career Returners Professional Network of over 9,000 members benefit from free resources, guidance, events and a supportive community. We help our community to rebuild their confidence, skills and connections to facilitate a smooth transition back into professional life. To enhance the support we provide and the connections we facilitate, we are very excited to be launching a new online returner community platform. We are seeking a skilled Community Manager to lead this initiative.

As the Community Manager, you will play a pivotal role in building and nurturing our online community. You will be responsible for creating a vibrant and engaging environment where members can connect, share experiences, access resources and events, and support one another. You should be experienced in setting up and managing an online community and possess a deep understanding of community dynamics, best practices and trends.

Who are we looking for?

Here’s who we’re hoping to find:

  • Experience in Growing Communities: Have you successfully grown an online community before? Whether you’ve used Hivebrite or another platform, we’re interested in hearing about your experiences and how you made your community thrive.
  • Passion for Our Mission: We’re a purpose-led organisation, and we need someone who’s excited to join us in making a positive impact. If our mission resonates with you, we’d love to have you on board!
  • Great Communication Skills: Can you write engaging posts, craft compelling messages, and connect with people from all walks of life and diverse cultures? We’re looking for someone who’s an expert at communicating both online and offline.
  • Positive, Empathetic and Friendly: Do you love bringing people together? We want someone who’s all about building relationships and making connections within our community. Your empathetic and warm approach will be key to making everyone feel welcome and supported.
  • Strategic and Proactive Thinker and Doer: We need someone who can think big-picture but isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves and get things done. You’ll be planning initiatives and seeing them through from start to finish.
  • Analytical Mindset: Numbers don’t scare you! You’ll be diving into data and metrics to understand how our community is doing and what we can do to make it even better.
  • Creative Spark: Got a knack for coming up with fun ideas and engaging content? We want someone who can keep our community positive, excited and inspired.
  • Team Player: Do you enjoy being part of a supportive team? We all pitch in together to achieve our shared goals.
  • Social Media Savvy: Are you familiar with different social media platforms and community management tools? We’re looking for someone who can integrate our social media with our community goals.

You can be based anywhere in the UK. You will need to be available to travel to occasional in-person meetings and events in London and Edinburgh. You must have the right to work in the UK.

What will you be doing?

  • Set up and configure our online community on the Hivebrite tech platform, ensuring a user-friendly and intuitive experience for members.
  • Develop and implement a community engagement strategy to foster active participation, discussion, and collaboration among members.
  • Create and curate content to share within the community, including articles, discussion topics, opportunities and polls.
  • Set up and run online events.
  • Communicate with and facilitate connections between community members.
  • Monitor community activity, respond to member inquiries, and moderate discussions to maintain a positive and supportive atmosphere.
  • Identify and recruit influential members, ambassadors, and moderators to help drive community growth and engagement.
  • Analyse community metrics and feedback to continuously improve the platform and optimise engagement strategies.
  • Collaborate with the rest of the Career Returners team to promote the community and integrate it into broader organisational initiatives.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to online community management.
